The Clear Creek Trail is part of a 24-mile trail system that crisscrosses Golden, Colorado. The most attractive part of the trail parallels both banks of Clear Creek that runs through downtown Golden. Although the trail is in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the entirety of the Clear Creek Trail only involves 226 feet of elevation changes.
There is ample free parking, public restrooms, and parks along the pathway as well as kayak put-ins and swimming holes in the creek. Biking is allowed, although the throngs of people and pets along the pathway would make riding fast difficult.
Golden is a cool little town with picturesque views and a tourism-centric restaurant scene. It’s not as developed as nearby Boulder, but it’s certainly worth a visit if you’re in the area.
