Dakota Nature Park

by Chad Chandler | posted in: Attractions, Hiking, South Dakota, Trails | 0

The Dakota Nature Park in Brookings, South Dakota, is a great example of land reclamation. It’s a historic site, but not for any of the usual reasons. It’s actually the site of an old landfill. City planners have managed to … Continued

Georgia Guidestones

by Chad Chandler | posted in: Attractions, Georgia | 0

This is a pretty novel, albeit disappointing, historic site. I was expecting the stones to be more mysterious and imposing. The Brits who were also at the site agreed that this just didn’t live up to the hype. I don’t … Continued

This is the White River National Forest near Keystone in Colorado. It's not hard to believe this is all snow melt this time of year. What was hard to believe was the impressive number of people I saw skiing/boarding in 60° weather at A-Basin this morning.

I'm 97% certain this little guy thinks he's leading me through the wilderness so I don't get lost. Either that or he brings me along to dispense bacons every hour on the hour. 🥓⌛

I finally got around to visiting the Devil's Head Fire Lookout this morning. I got there at 7:00 am and was still probably an hour too late to avoid the beginning of the crowds. Next time, I would do a pre-sunrise hike and catch the dawn from the fire tower.
