Scotsman Creek Falls

by Chad Chandler | posted in: Attractions, Hiking, North Carolina, Waterfalls | 0

Scotsman Creek Falls is a 55-foot waterfall near Cashiers, North Carolina. The creek flows into the Chattooga River downstream. Much like nearby Andrew Ramey Falls and Lower Bearwallow Falls, this is more of a bushwack than a trail. There are … Continued

Thru-hiking the 30-mile Art Loeb Trail in a day

by Chad Chandler | posted in: Art Loeb Trail, Hiking, North Carolina, Trails | 2

I first hiked the 30.1 mile Art Loeb Trail in the fall of 2016. A drought made the hike more challenging than it probably should have been. I did it SOBO over 3 days. My first afternoon featured 4 miles … Continued

Linville Gorge Wilderness Falls

by Chad Chandler | posted in: Hiking, North Carolina, Trails, Waterfalls | 0

The waterfalls in the Linville Gorge Wilderness in Marion, NC, are pretty impressive. There’s plenty of signage so you can’t miss the entry to the park. The road is pretty rough, but it doesn’t require a 4×4. The parking area … Continued

We got up above the tree line at around 12,000 feet in Arapaho National Forest today. Saw some waterfalls, enjoyed peak wildflowers, and played around with a tetanus farm in the form of abandoned mining equipment. Nice little Sunday.

It was hot and sunny, so we decided to hike up to a high altitude lake where it was not hot at all and the lake was frozen. Probably not the best use of an unseasonably warm day, but it was still fun. 🤷‍♂️
