Opossum Creek Falls

by Chad Chandler | posted in: Hiking, South Carolina, Trails, Waterfalls | 0

Opossum Creek Falls is a 50-foot waterfall in upstate South Carolina. The waterfall is upstream from the convergence with the Chattooga River, meaning that this is near the state border with Georgia. The trailhead is just off a gravel forestry … Continued

Andrew Ramey Falls is an impressive cascade in Oconee County, South Carolina. The pool at the base of the falls is only about 18 inches deep, but it’s sandy and would make for a great lounging area on a hot … Continued

The Graybeard Trail is a 9-mile out-and-back trail in the Montreat area of Black Mountain, North Carolina. It is well blazed with blue, plastic diamonds. The ample signage and maintenance are some of the best I’ve seen since visiting Pearson’s … Continued

Pearson’s Falls & Glen

by Chad Chandler | posted in: Attractions, Hiking, Waterfalls | 0

Pearson’s Falls & Glen is a more of a park than a trail. I’ve categorized it as a roadside attraction because it’s only ¼ miles from the parking lot to the falls. This is basically a trail that is very … Continued

Just finished a weekend camping trip in southern Colorado. We got to drive the famous #MillionDollarHighway and grab a beer and some BBQ in Silverton.
The #OurayPerimeterTrail was the most rewarding short hike I have ever done. You climb up into the mountains (often on the edge of a cliff) and walk completely around the entire valley town of Ouray. It was absolutely spectacular. The foliage was in peak colors and the temperature was perfect.
It's easy to see why Ouray is called the "Switzerland of the Americas." We got very lucky with this trip.
The next time we go, Jenny said that she will spend the morning at a day spa while I climb the #OurayViaFerrata. Click the hashtag to see what I'm talking about. 😉
