C.C. Hikes is an interactive travelog built with WordPress and written by me, Chad Chandler. The content on this website represents my own personal and limited interactions with the outdoors. My encounters are summarized for entertainment purposes only. Readers should never substitute the results of my own amateur experiences for information obtained from properly authorized and/or licensed professionals. Any actions taken based on any of my photos, posts, advertisements, or content of any kind are done so under your own responsibility.
Disclosure
I am a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. I am not compensated to provide favorable opinions about products, services, websites, or any other topics. The views and opinions expressed on this website are purely my own. I feature products and services that I believe, based on my limited and subjective expertise, are worthy of endorsement. Any claim, statistic, quote, or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer or provider. Ads—really just product listings—are included only if I believe they enrich the user experience. None of the ads are malicious or obnoxious.
Privacy
I will never share the personal information of subscribers or contributors with third-parties. WordPress does not use cookies to track visitors, but third-party plug-ins and advertisers may use them to access information about visitors to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to them. This is standard procedure on the internet. You can read more about this practice in the Amazon Privacy Notice. Pages on this site include embedded content (e.g. images, videos, products, articles, etc.) from Amazon, Google Maps, MyMaps, YouTube, Instagram, MailChimp, LighterPack, and other sites. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged into that website. This is also standard.
Cookies
This website uses cookies to distinguish one anonymous user from another. That way, if you say you don’t want to receive the e-newsletter, you only have to decline once (per 30 days). It works that way with the rating system too; one man, one vote. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so WordPress can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. WordPress collects the data shown in the comments form and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. You can read more about this practice in the Gravatar service privacy policy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Copyright
The original content on this website is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License. In simple terms, this means you can quote content from this website as long as you attribute it to cchikes.com with a link to the origin URL, allow others to quote that content as well, and you’re not using my copy or media for commercial purposes (e.g. printing one of my photos on a t-shirt and selling it). This content might contain errors and not be completely up to date. This website is just a side project of mine. Errors, when pointed out, might not be corrected immediately. Any copyrighted work excerpted here is done so under Fair Use protection. It is the responsibility of the commenters not to infringe copyright in the comments. Commenters who upload images to the website should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF, GPS) included. Other visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
All of the legalese on this page might lead you to you think something nefarious is going on, but most of this stuff is simply baked into the cake, so to speak. If you have any further questions, please contact me. I can’t believe you actually read the fine print!
