TRT—Travel, trail, & resupply

by Chad Chandler | posted in: Tahoe Rim Trail | 3

The logistics involved with my recent hikes of the Uinta Highline Trail and the John Muir Trail—both necessitating flights and hotels—were very inefficient. I spent more time and money getting to and from the trail than I think was necessary. … Continued

Planning to hike the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT)

by Chad Chandler | posted in: Hiking, Loops, Tahoe Rim Trail | 1

I like to take a backpacking trip in the late summer/early fall each year. It forces me to stay in shape and it allows me to explore different regions of the country fairly inexpensively. You save a lot of money … Continued

Using Google’s MyMaps for GPS navigation

by Chad Chandler | posted in: Gear, Hiking, Opinion | 2

A big reason this travelog works so well is because of the way it’s integrated with Google Maps. Each trailhead is mapped for easy navigation by car, and most backpacking trip routes are mapped for use while on the trail. … Continued

I did eight easy miles through the Pine Valley Ranch/Buffalo Creek Region this morning. I don't know how I've never been to this area. It's absolutely gorgeous and it seems like most people don't stray too far from the parking lot. I had the mountains practically to myself.

I’m playing around with a water bottle phone/camera stand and a new photo timer app for a trip I have coming up later this month. I still don’t have the settings dialed in. 🤔
